1. Common Noun- Common nouns refer to people, places and things in general like chair or dog.
Any noun that is not a name is a common noun.
Ex. Chair, Dog etc.
2. Proper Noun- A proper noun is the name of particular person, place or a thing.
Ex. India, Yamuna, Lucknow.
3. Collective Noun- A collective noun is a collection of persons or things taken together and spoken of as one whole.
Ex. The word bunch stands for a collection of keys.

4. Material Noun- A noun which stands for the matter or substance of which things are made of is called material noun.
Ex. Iron, silver, gold, etc.

Ex. heat, cold, air, etc.
6. Countable Noun- A noun that stands for things that can be counted.
