CBSE Class 12 Economics - Sample Paper Blueprint & Marking Schemes Review section-wise weightage, model papers, macroeconomics numericals, and step-wise mark allocations. 📋 CBSE Class 12 Economics Exam Pattern & Marks Distribution:
• Total Marks: 100 (Theory: 80 + Project Work: 20).
• Time Allowed: 3 Hours. • Question Paper Structure: Divided into Introductory Macroeconomics and Indian Economic Development. • Question Mix: Around 50% competency-based questions (MCQs, case/source-based), remaining short and long answer including numerical problems, mostly with internal choices. • Sections: 1-Mark objective questions, Short Answer (3-4 Marks), and Long Answer (6 Marks) questions, several requiring numerical calculation. Sample 1-Mark Question (MCQ): Which of the following is included while calculating National Income by the Income Method?
Step-wise Marking Scheme:
• Correct Answer (1 Mark): Compensation of Employees. • Reasoning: The Income Method sums all factor incomes (compensation of employees, rent, interest, and profit) generated within the domestic territory during the year; transfer payments are excluded. Sample 4-Mark Numerical Question: From the following data, calculate National Income by the Expenditure Method: Private Final Consumption Expenditure = ₹800 crore, Government Final Consumption Expenditure = ₹200 crore, Gross Domestic Capital Formation = ₹300 crore, Net Exports = ₹(-)50 crore, Consumption of Fixed Capital = ₹40 crore, Net Factor Income from Abroad = ₹(-)10 crore.
Marking Allocation:
1. Correct formula: NNP at MP = GDP at MP - Consumption of Fixed Capital + NFIA (1 Mark). 2. GDP at MP calculation: 800 + 200 + 300 + (-50) = ₹1,250 crore (1.5 Marks). 3. Final Answer: National Income (NNP at FC, assuming no taxes/subsidies given) = 1,250 - 40 + (-10) = ₹1,200 crore (1.5 Marks). 📌 Evaluation Criteria followed by Board Examiners in Economics:
• Formula First: Numerical questions must state the correct formula before substituting values to secure step marks.
• Working Shown: Even a correct final answer without visible working loses marks; every calculation step is credited separately. • Diagram Support: Questions on demand/supply or market equilibrium expect a correctly labelled diagram alongside the explanation. |
