          (c) Chinese was the language of the elite and Confucianism and was followed by a majority of   Vietnamese. The Vietnamese Scholar Phan Boi Chau was educated in Confucian tradition.

Ans. (a) Vietnamese religious belief was based on superstitious whereas Christianity had a relatively more modern outlook.

(c)     The French put these uprising down with great severity, even using planes to bomb demonstrators.
