CBSE Class 11 Accountancy - Sample Paper Blueprint & Marking Schemes Review section-wise weightage, model papers, journal entry and rectification problems, and step-wise mark allocations for the 2026-27 session. 📋 CBSE Class 11 Accountancy Exam Pattern & Marks Distribution (2026-27):
• Total Marks: 100 (Theory: 80 + Project Work: 20).
• Time Allowed: 3 Hours. • Highest-Weightage Unit: Accounting Process (Recording of Transactions, Bank Reconciliation, Depreciation, Trial Balance & Rectification of Errors) alone carries 44 of the 80 theory marks. • Question Paper Structure: Part A — Theoretical Framework (12 marks) and Accounting Process (44 marks); Part B — Financial Statements of Sole Proprietorship (24 marks); Part C — Project Work (20 marks). • Question Mix: MCQs, Very Short Answer, Short Answer, and Long Answer/numerical questions covering journal entries, ledger posting, trial balance, and final accounts, most with internal choices. Sample 1-Mark Question (MCQ): If the Capital of a business is ₹40,000, Creditors are ₹25,000, and total assets amount to ₹65,000, which accounting principle does this satisfy?
Step-wise Marking Scheme:
• Correct Answer (1 Mark): The Accounting Equation (Assets = Capital + Liabilities). • Reasoning: Assets (₹65,000) = Capital (₹40,000) + Creditors/Liabilities (₹25,000), confirming the equation holds true. Sample 6-Mark Question (Long Answer - Rectification of Errors): A trial balance did not agree, and the difference of ₹1,200 (excess credit) was placed to a Suspense Account. Later, the following errors were located: (i) Sales Book was overcast by ₹500; (ii) Purchases of ₹700 from Mohan were posted to his account as ₹70; (iii) Goods returned to Ramesh worth ₹350 were not recorded in the books. Pass the rectifying journal entries and prepare the Suspense Account.
Marking Allocation:
1. Identifying one-sided vs two-sided errors and correctly classifying each of the three errors (2 Marks). 2. Passing correct rectifying journal entries for each error, with the Suspense Account used only where required (3 Marks). 3. Preparing the Suspense Account and correctly balancing it against the given difference of ₹1,200 (1 Mark). 📌 Evaluation Criteria followed by Board Examiners in Accountancy:
• Step Marking: Each correct journal entry, ledger posting, or working note earns marks independently, even if the final balance is wrong.
• Correct Format Matters: Journal entries, ledger accounts, and financial statements must follow the prescribed format (narration, dates, folio columns) — deviating from format can cost marks even with the right figures. • No Working = No Marks: A correct final total shown without journal entries or ledger workings can lose most of the marks for that question. |
