• Time Allowed (Theory): 3 Hours. • Theory Coverage: Computer system basics, Python programming fundamentals and data handling, database concepts with SQL, and Society, Law and Ethics — with a data- and application-focused emphasis rather than the deeper algorithmic focus of Computer Science (083). • Practical Split (30 marks): Problem-solving using Python (11 marks), creating and querying a database using MySQL (7 marks), Practical File with a minimum of 14 Python programs and 14 MySQL queries (7 marks), and Viva Voce (5 marks). • Question Mix: MCQs, Very Short Answer, Short Answer, and Long Answer questions covering both theory concepts and Python/SQL code, most with internal choices. Sample 1-Mark Question (MCQ): Which SQL clause is used to filter records after grouping has been performed with GROUP BY?
Step-wise Marking Scheme:
• Correct Answer (1 Mark): HAVING. • Reasoning: WHERE filters rows before grouping, while HAVING filters groups after the GROUP BY aggregation has been applied. Sample 4-Mark Question (SQL Query): Consider a table STUDENT(Rno, Name, Class, Marks). Write SQL queries to: (a) display the names and marks of students scoring more than 80, in descending order of marks; (b) display the average marks of each class.
Marking Allocation:
1. Correct query (a) — SELECT with WHERE and ORDER BY DESC clauses correctly used (2 Marks). 2. Correct query (b) — SELECT with AVG() and GROUP BY correctly used (2 Marks). 📌 Evaluation Criteria followed by Board Examiners in Informatics Practices:
