• Total Marks: 100 (Theory: 70 + Practical: 30).
• Theory Structure: Eight units — What is Psychology, Methods of Enquiry in Psychology, The Bases of Human Behaviour, Human Development, Sensory, Attentional and Perceptual Processes, Learning, Human Memory, and Thinking, with Motivation and Emotion covered alongside. • Practical Component (30 marks): Practical file with psychological experiments/tests, record work, and viva voce, based on the prescribed practicals list. • Question Mix: MCQs, Very Short Answer, Short Answer, Case-Based, and Long Answer questions, most with internal choices. Sample 1-Mark Question (MCQ): Which method of psychological research involves an in-depth, detailed study of a single individual or a small group?
Step-wise Marking Scheme:
• Correct Answer (1 Mark): The Case Study method. • Reasoning: A case study focuses intensively on one person or a small group over time, using multiple sources of information (interviews, records, observation) to build a detailed picture of behaviour. Sample 5-Mark Question (Long Answer - Human Memory): Explain the three stages of the information processing model of memory (sensory, short-term, and long-term memory), and describe one factor that can lead to forgetting at each stage.
Marking Allocation:
1. Correctly describing all three stages of memory with their approximate capacity/duration (3 Marks). 2. Correctly linking one cause of forgetting to each stage (e.g. decay, displacement, interference) (2 Marks). 📌 Evaluation Criteria followed by Board Examiners in Psychology:
• Point-wise Marking: Each correctly explained concept, stage, or factor earns marks independently, so structuring answers point by point scores better than one continuous paragraph.
