All topics Class 5 Solved Questions and Answers
A. Learn and write the given poem-
I’d like a stocking made for a giant, Over a new tool-box.
And a meeting house full of toys; And some would rather have little shoes,
Then I’d go out on a happy hunt And other things warm to wear,
For the poor little girls and boys; For many children are very poor,
Up the street and down the street, And the winter is hard to bear;
And across and over the town, I’d buy soft flannels for little frocks,
I’d search and find them everyone, And a thousand stockings or so,
Before the sun went down. And the jolliest little coats and cloaks,
One would want a new jack-knife To keep out the frost and snow.
Sharp enough to cut; I’d load a wagon with caramels
One would long for a doll with hair, And candy of every kind,
And eyes that open and shut; And buy all the almonds and pecan nuts
One would ask for a china set And taffy that I could find;
With dishes all to her mind; And barrels and barrels of oranges
One would wish a Noah’s ark I’d scatter right in the way,
With beast of every kind. So the children would find them
Some would like a doll cook-stove the very first thing,
And a little toy wash tub; When they walk on Christmas day.
Some would prefer little drum,
For a noisy rub-a-dub;
Some would wish for a story book,
And some for a set of blocks;
Some would be wild with happiness
