It was the festival of spring. A colourfully-dressed crowd of men, women and children were all going to the village fair. Some walked, some rode on horses, others went in bullock-carts. One little boy ran, very fast with life and laughter, “Come, child, come,” called his parents. He hurried towards his parents, and his eyes on the toys. “I want that toy,” he begged.
His father looked at him angrily while his mother was quiet, and said : “Look, child, what is before you.” The child could see many footpaths full of people. He felt afraid at the corner of entrance there was a sweet-seller, calling out: “Gulabjamun, rasgulla, burfi, jalebi”. The child stared and his mouth watered for the burfi that was his favourite sweet. “I want that burfi,” but he knew his parents would say no then he moved on.
A man stood holding a pole with yellow, red, green and purple balloons flying from it. So he wanted to have them all. But he knew that his parents would say no. so he walked on.
Men, women and children were laughing a shouting madly as they went round and round in the swing the child watched them. This time the child made request: “I want to have a ride, please, Father, Mother!”
