I. Read the given passage and answer the questions that follow:
.Miss Margaret Howe’s special living room was fullof water. The water was not very deep- only up to her knees. She lived in this watery room with two friends named Peter and Pam. Miss Howe walked around in the water, but her two friends had to swim.
.Miss Howe lived in a specially built house with these dolphins. They were her students, and she tried to teach them to speak as people do.
.“Hello,” said Miss Howe.
.“Hello,” said Peter.
.“Do you want to play ball?” asked Miss Howe.
.“Ball,” answered Peter.
.Peter was actually speaking in sounds that anyone could understand. He was imitating Miss Howe. It had taken her many months to teach these dolphins to say just a few words but she never gave up and had finally succeeded!
.Under the water and out of the water, dolphins can make many different and interesting sounds. They not only have their own sounds but can also imitate just about anything- fish, motors and humans.
.Many people think that when dolphins make some of their sounds, they are actually talking- and that they may even know what they are saying. No one has ever been able to prove this for sure but Miss Howe and a man named Dr. Lilly are trying to prove it.
.Miss Howe and Dr. Lilly have been studying dolphins for many years. They think that dolphins want to talk to us as much as we want to talk to them.
.When Miss Howe was living with Peter and Pam, she got up every day at 7:30 in the morning. From 8:00 to 8:30 she had her first English lessons of the day with Peter, then with Pam. Classes continued for the rest of the day with Miss Howe teaching Peter and Pam their words and numbers.
