Q.1 Read the passage carefully and answer the questions that follow-

The Titanic was the biggest and the most luxurious passenger ship of its time , which was strongly built and was thought unsinkable . The ship was on her maiden voyage from England to America .As many as 1500 lives were lost when the Titanic sank on the night of 15 April 1912 in the Atlantic after it had struck an iceberg .

She was the biggest and safest vessel ever built by man . Everyone thought and believed that she was indestructible . She was the best in comfort ,beauty and equipment . She had a Parisian café , a swimming pool . a large dining hall , a library , sun – parlors had a huge ballroom . On the 15 April 1912 she was on her maiden voyage to America . There were many rich and high ranking persons among the passengers . The ship was heading towards New York , and the passengers were in high spirits even after four days at sea. It was cold and calm ; there were no storms on the sea. Shortly before midnight on 14 April , however , while going at a speed of 41 kms per hour , the ship collided with an iceberg that ripped a 90 meter hole on her right side . Five of her watertight compartments were ruptered, which caused her to sink at 2:20 a.m of 15 April.As a result of the disaster nearly three-fourth (1500) 0f those on board (2224)were drowned in the ocean . At the dawn of 16 April 1912 another ship Carpathian reached the place and saved all those who had survived the sinking of the Titanic .
