Comparison of Adjectives
We use adjectives to compare persons or things. When we make these comparisons, the adjectives we use change their form.
Adjectives have three forms called the Degrees of Comparison.
1. Positive Degree: This degree of an adjective. is used when we are not making any comparison. This degree is used with one person or thing.
Eg. 1. This house is big.
In this sentence, only one noun the ‘house’ is talked about.
2. Comparative Degree: This degree of an adjective is used when we are comparing two persons or things (or two groups of person or things)
Eg. 1. This house is bigger than that one.
Here we are talking about two houses.
3. Superlative Degree: This degree of an adjective is used when we are comparing more than two persons or things.
Eg. 1. This is the biggest house in the city.
Here we are talking about many houses.
