Section-A :Reading
Read the following passage carefully :
SHOES FOR SUMMERY
SOULS
(16 Marks)
(9 Marks)
You are off to work. The sun is high and the tar is melting under your feet even at 9: 30 a.m. The queue at the bus stop is as long as the faces of commuters. The first thing that comes to your mind is walking comfort. Clearly, tight shoes, leather soles of impermeable speakers can choke your feet and make your life miserable. "The best recourse to beat the city's heat is to wear airy, comfortable shoes made of Polyurethane (PU) or Tetra Polyurethane soles that enable your feet to breathe. PU soles not just impart flexibility to the shoe, they are lighter in weight and don't compromise on durability either.
Mesonite sheet soles, on the other hand, lend a good shape to the shoe and are fashionable rather than comfortable," explains Rajiv Sethi, proprdtor.

Vamson shoes, who specializes in high- quality fashionable footwear acquired from shoemaking centers like Agra, Kolkata, Kanpur and Mumbai. "We try and get the most contemporary designs popular in the fashion capitals of the world and make them r.-..-ailable to consumers before other shoe showrooms do that. We are not so hot on big brands, which take a lot of time to innovate and catch up with the latest trend," says Sethi.
In summer, it makes a better sense to wear moccasins and slip -ons and the design which is in vogue at the moment is the broad- toe. For men, Vanson stock shoes from the Agra based Valentino and Lico style, besides their own brand Dely's. If you want to b casual, nothing like more native sensibility to let your feet breathe. There are ethnic options like majoris, jhutis and Peshawari sandals.

For women, one of the hottest selling designs is the platform heel with an Ostrich leather look. The sole is primarily raisin and non leather, while the upper could be anything from cloth to plastic, to Nubuck (animal leather turned inside out)." We have over 400 designs )
which cater to the most eclectic tastes," claims Sethi.
One of the most comfortable footwear articles in summer is a sandal. This year with the pre- monsoon showers lashing the city, it makes sense to go in for water resistant sandals, which look funky too, There's Lee Cooper that makes some interesting sandals in buff leather with PU soles with straps. that can be easily detached to turn into chappals.
Vansons does not hanker after big brands. If it's trendy, hot and happening, they will get it for you from Agra, Kanpur or Mumbai or replicate it in the city itself. "Our motto is to ' being the world to your feet ,"concludes Sethi.

"An Elegy on the Death of a Mad Dog"
Good people all, of every sort,
Give ear unto my song;

And if you find it wondrous short,
It cannot hold you long.
In Islington there was a man,
.· Of whom the world might say
That still a godly race he ran,
Whene'er he went to pray.
Akind and gentle heart he had,
To comfort friends and foes;
The naked every day he clad,
When he put on his clothes.
And in that town a dog was found,
Asmany dogs there be,
Both mongrel, puppy, whelp and hound,
And curs of low degree.
This dog and man at first were friends;
But when a pique began,
The dog, to gain some private ends,
Went mad and bit theman.
Around from all the neighboring streets
The wondering neighbors ran,
And swore the dog had lost his wits,
To bite so good a man.
The wound it seemed both sore and sad
To every Christian eye;
And while they swore the dog was mad,
They swore the man would die.
But soon a wonder came to light,
That showed the rogues they lied:
The man recovered of the bite,
The dog it was that died. ·
