Martin king Luther  was born  on  January  15,  1929.  His family  lived  on  the outskirts  of Atlanta. The fact thatbe could not play withWhite children or that he bad tooffer a seat to  a white child disturbed him.When he waseight years old, his father a Baptist pastor, told  thefamily a  sad  story: Bessie Smith, a  great singer, met with  an accident.  Anambulance  rushed her tothe nearest hospital, but she wasnot admitted because she was a Black.  The ambulance  tookher from one hospital toanother, but she could not find a place for herself·  because these hospitals were only for  theWhites. Shedied for  wantof blood. From that day,  Martin Luther Kingdreamt of  becoming a liberator of the Blacks.

Kingcompleted his studies  atMore  House College, and then earned a doctor's  degree in Theology  at Boston  University. In 1995,  King married  Alabama  Soprano  Coretta  Scott. That very year he became a  pastor  andpreached his first sermon  inthe Baptist Church  of  Atlanta. Asa  young  man  he  wasgreatly impressed by  Mahatma  Gandhi'ssuccess  in  the political field and  'the  power of ahimsa'.  King decided  tofollow  thepath of non-violence  andget  millions of  Blacks  their due.  Hefelt  that  theblacks  have  immensely contributed  towards the building of America ,and there was no reason whythey should not be treated  ·with respect.
