There are wild dogs and pet dogs. Pet dogs are helpers and friends to people. There were no pet dogs 15,000 year ago. Men and women learned how to work with dogs. Dogs helped humans travel from Asia to North America 10,000 years ago by pulling sleds in the snow. People say dogs are “man‟s best friend.” They help with farming. They help with hunting. They help with fishing. They can pull things for people. They can help find things. There are many colors of dogs. There are white dogs, gray dogs, black dogs, and brown dogs. A dog‟s fur can be short or long. Dogs have curly hair or straight fur. There are very small dogs. They are only 6-8 inches tall. There are very big dogs also. They are about 3 feet tall. Some dogs can see well. Some dogs do not see very well. All dogs can hear well. They can hear sounds that people cannot hear. They can hear high sounds and low sounds. They can hear sound very far away. All dog can smell very well. They can smell 40 times better than humans! Dogs live 5 to 13 years, but some dogs live much longer. One dog lived to be 24 years old!
 

*Each sentence has two parts- subject and predicate.

1. Subject- In a sentence, about whom we talk is called subject of the sentence.

2. Predicate- In a sentence, what is said about the subject is called the predicate of the sentence. The verb always remains in the predicate part.

The subject of a sentence usually comes first, but occasionally it is put after the Predicate. Ex- Here comes the bus. In this sentence, the bus is the subject and here comes is the predicate.

B. Summary of the poem-
This poem ‘The Quarrel’ is composed by the poetess Eleanor Farjeon. Eleanor Farjeon was an English author of children’s stories, plays and poetry. In this poem, she talks about the quarrel between the siblings. Here, she describes the love hidden behind the quarreling of siblings. She also gives the message that the siblings fight with each other but they can’t live without each other.
In this poem, the poetess had a fight with his brother. They both were fighting without knowing the cause. During the fight, they both fell down. In the beginning, the fight was modest but later it became serious. Her brother said he was right whereas she was thinking she was right.
In the noon, the fight became serious. They both started hating each other. They did not like one another. Suddenly, the poetess’ brother hit her on her back and asked her to come with him. He said that it was not right to pull the matter throughout the night. He said humbly that he was wrong (that showed his generosity). This moved the poetess’ heart and she realized that she was wrong.
