CBSE Class 9 Sanskrit - Sample Paper Blueprint & Marking Schemes

Review section-wise weightage, model papers, Sharda textbook-based questions, and step-wise mark allocations for the 2026-27 session.

📋 CBSE Class 9 Sanskrit Exam Pattern & Marks Distribution (2026-27):

Total Marks: 100 (Theory: 80 + Internal Assessment: 20).
New Prescribed Textbook: For 2026-27, the new NCERT Sanskrit textbook is Sharda, introduced under NCF-SE 2023, replacing the earlier prescribed books.
Highest-Weightage Khand: पठित साहित्यम् / Prescribed Literature (Prose, Poetry, and Drama passages from Sharda) carries 30 of the 80 theory marks.
Khand-wise Theory Split: अपठित अवबोधनम् / Unseen Reading Comprehension (10), रचनात्मक लेखनम् / Creative Writing (15), अनुप्रयुक्त व्याकरणम् / Applied Grammar — Sandhi, Shabd Roop, Dhatu Roop, Karak (25), पठित साहित्यम् / Prescribed Literature — Prose (गद्यांश), Poetry (पद्यांश), and Drama (नाट्यांश) (30).
Note: Grammar and Literature together account for nearly 70% of the theory paper — the two highest-scoring sections with the most predictable question patterns.
Internal Assessment (20 marks): Periodic tests (best two scores counted) and portfolio.

नमूना 1-अंक प्रश्न (MCQ): "रमा + ईशः" इत्यस्य सन्धि-विच्छेदः कः?

नमूना 5-अंक प्रश्न (दीर्घ उत्तरीय - पठित साहित्यम्): Sharda पाठ्यपुस्तकस्य किसी एकस्य गद्यांशस्य आधारेण तस्य केन्द्रीयभावं स्वकीयशब्देषु लिखत।

📌 Evaluation Criteria followed by Examiners in Sanskrit:

Grammar Precision: संधि, शब्द रूप, धातु रूप, and कारक questions are marked strictly against the exact grammatical rule and correctly split form — a correct final word with wrong classification earns only partial credit.
Format Marks in Writing: The Creative Writing section uses मञ्जूषा (word-bank) hints, and answers are marked on correctly using the given words within the right format.
Own-Words Requirement: Literature-based long answers are marked higher when expressed in the student's own Sanskrit rather than copied verbatim from the textbook.
