There are mainly four types of sentences.
 
1 Declarative sentences.               2. Interrogative sentences.
 
3. Imperative sentences.              4. Exclamatory sentences.
 
A declarative sentence is a statement that ends with a full stop.
 
Eg: 1. My hobby is painting.        2. New Delhi is the capital of India.
 
An interrogative sentence is a question that ends with a question mark. These type of sentences begin
 
with question words such as ‘who, what, where, when, why, whose, how, do, did or does.
 
Eg: 1. When is your birthday?      2. What is your favourite snack?
 
3. Did you meet your friend on the way?
 
An imperative sentence is in the form of a command or a request. It usually ends with a full stop.
 
Eg: 1. Please sit down.               2. Stand in a queue.
 
3. Wait outside.                         4. Avoid fast food.
 
An exclamatory sentence is a sentence that expresses great emotions such as excitement, surprise, pain,
 
anger, disappointment etc. Such sentences end with an exclamation mark (!)
 
Eg: 1. How pretty your dress is!            2. Wow ! What an amazing match.
 
3. What a funny movie it was!               4. Oh ! I just missed my flight.
