Direct and Indirect Speech

In the Direct Speech, the speaker's words are exactly presented and are placed within quotation marks.

 
Examples:
 
1. I said , “ I like fruits.”
 
2. My father said, “I am going to the market.”
 
When the actual words of the speaker are reported, we call it as Indirect Speech. Quotation Marks are not used in the Indirect Speech.
 
The following changes are made while converting from the Direct Speech to the Indirect Speech.
