This programme ( which normally lasts for 3 years and the cases of some institutions – four years ) educates the aspirants/ candidates about Product Development, Engineering, Sourcing, Merchandising, Product Planning, Go to Market Strategies and the overall aspects of Marketing related to the fashion industry. The focus is on augmenting the students’ intake of theoretical knowledge with powerful practical involvement that imitates the future real life situations in the fashion industry. It imparts those necessary skills required to run a national/international brand. Apart from the basics listed above, the course also imparts knowledge in areas like production management, order procurement/ purchases, negotiations, productivity planning and Industrial Engineering.  The course curriculum enables the aspirants/ candidates acquire diversity of both Indian and International experience. They also are given clear understanding of the global fashion industry and its trends.

Upon successful completion of the course, the candidates can get into the following careers – Production Managers, Product Managers, Merchandising Specialists, Marketing Manager, Buyer, Vendor Management and Visual Merchandisers. An alternative choice is to pursue a Masters in Fashion Management ( MBA/ MA ).

While some of the institutions do conduct entrance examinations to choose the best of the applicants, mostly it is enough if the candidate has cleared HSC or equivalent board with a minimum of 50% aggregate to be eligible for admission to this course.
