b) Rahul found a ‘cocklebur’ seed and a ‘dandelion’ seed in his garden. He was wondering how did they reach there. If you were his friend how would you explain to him the dispersal of these two seeds? Mention one special feature of each seed.

Ans. Cocklebur seed dispersed by animals (0.5). it has spines which help it to stick to the animal skin(0.5). Dandelion is dispersewd by wind(0.5). it has hair which act like little parachutes.(0.5)

c) Give one example of eachi)

f) How do the limbs of a bird help in movement?

Ans.1. The forelimbs of birds are modified into wings which help in flying.(1)

2. The hind limbs help them to walk, hop, run or perch. (1)

g) How is atmosphere useful for us? (Mention 2 points)

Ans. 1. It helps in maintaining the right temperature for the survival of life/It protects us from the falling meteoroids./ It has ozone that protects us from ultraviolet rays of the Sun. (any 2 pts for 2 marks)
