Ans. Mukadam is an agent for sugarcane factories. He is also an agent who lends money. When there is no rain, and no work in the fields everyone barrows money from him.
b) Why are the forest called ‘collective banks’?
Ans. Forests give wealth to Adivasi as their family used to collect leaves and herbs from the forest and sell these in the bazaar. They weave baskets from bamboo or make leaf plates out of the fallen leaves.
c) What is the name of Gaurav Jani’s vehicle? Write the name of states they passed to reach Delhi.
Ans. Loner is the name of Gaurav Jani’s vehicle. They passed Maharashtra,
Gujarat and Rajasthan states to reach Delhi.
d) Why the earthworms called best friends of the soil?
Ans. The earthworms are called best friends of the soil because the earthworms soften the soil as they keep digging underneath to make tunnels. This way air and water can easily get into the soil. The earthworms also eat the dead leaves and plants, and their droppings fertilise the soil.
e) What should one do during the earthquake?
Ans.If possible leave the house and go to an open ground. If you cannot go out of the house, lie down under a strong thing like a table and hold on tightly, so that it does not slip away. Wait until the shaking stops.

a) Right to forest Act 2007,
Ans.People who have been living in the forests for at least 25 years, have a right over the forest land and what is grown on it. They should not be removed from the forest. The work of protecting the forest should be done by their Gram Sabha.
b) Gregor Mendel
Ans. Gregor Mendel was born in a poor farmer’s family in Austria in 1822. For seven years he did experiments on 28,000 plants in the garden of the monastery. He worked hard, collected many observations, and made a new discovery. Mendel showed that in the next generation of pea plants there will be more plants having yellow seeds. He also showed that the next generation will have more plants with smooth seeds.
c) Cause of Pollution and its solution.
Ans. Due to deforestation and using a lot many vehicles by the people causes pollution. Also the Industrialisation causes pollution. People should have plant more trees in factory area. They should use C.N.G. instead of petrol and diesel. People should use Public transports instead of their own vehicle.
