SUMMARY OF THE POEM
The poem is about the shed which was a small room away from the main house. It was located at the bottom of the poet’s garden.
It was in the worst condition. Whenever poet passed through it, he felt somebody was staring at him. His brother threatened him by saying that a ghost stayed in the shed who hid himself under the rotten floor boards who might jump and attacked on the poet.
In fact there was no ghost inside the shed. His brother told him lie to keep the shed for his den.
At last the poet overcame his fear by saying that he would enter the shed one day soon.

However, the next time when the speaker described the shed, the speaker shared that it had been a long time since the spider and the web were not to be seen. Perhaps, the door of the shed had been opened by the speaker's brother thereby displacing the spider's web that covered
the door.

Question. What change occurred in the attitude of the speaker ?
Answer : The speaker seemed to be scared of the shed. He thought about the strange voices that came from the shed, somebody mysteriously staring at him, he believed in the ghost stories and so on. However , in the last stanza of the poem, there seemed to be a major change in the speaker's attitude. He had understood that all these ghost stories were lie told to him and therefore his resolved to go inside the shed became further firm.
