‘Exciting time is here again! Its time for Summer Vacation and fun filled activities’. Children are reservoirs of potential which needs to be tapped and channelized in diverse ways. We at SRSM feel that it is very important to fire their imagination and foster an outlook that helps them explore, discover and rediscover. Children should be encouraged to develop intellectually and physically. Summer Vacation is the best and fruitful time for learning and creativity. It is the time when you can connect with your child in many ways.

The Holidays’ Homework designed would not only enhance achievements of your children but also help to enhance family relationships. It would teach your children to work independently and would improve their basic academic skills, such as reading, writing, and spellings and would help them develop personal skills and time management.

A few suggestions that you may keep in mind.

 Spend quality time with your children. Take them out for outings and have fun time together.

 Help your children to become independent by giving them responsibilities. Involve them in small household activities.

 Inculcate in them good manners, healthy habits and respect for elders.

 Inculcate the feelings of empathy, affection and tolerance in your children.

Give them a chance to look after you and their younger brothers and sisters.

 Converse with your children in English.

 Encourage your children to read books to enhance their language skills. Reading will also boost their interpretative skills and provide them valuable literary experience.

 Cultivate sportsmanship by encouraging your children to play various indoor and outdoor games.

Remember that Summer Vacation is the time to relax and enjoy. So spend these holidays creating a nurturing and stimulating environment filled with fun, frolic, learning and education.

Q1. Read different types of magazines/comics like Tinkle / Champak / Talent zone etc. Choose any two magazines and write a comparative report by adding positive and negative aspects of them.

Q2. Phrasal verbs are a very important part of the English language. Not only are they used in spoken and informal English, but they are also a common part of written and even formal English. Write 50 common phrasal verbs with their meanings and sentences based on them.

Q3 A syllable placed before a word to change its meaning is called a prefix, Like: in + discipline – indiscipline Write 50 words by adding prefix and make sentences to show how their meanings get changed.

Q4. Often we get confused in writing words with the same pronunciation. Make a list of 50 pairs with different spelling but same pronunciation.

Q5 Poetry is a base of life and adds hues to it. Develop a poet within you and compose one original poem on anyone of the following themes but don't forget to record your voice in a new CD. Bring it to school after vacation duly labeled.

Q6. Many adjectives are formed by adding suffixes to nouns, to verbs and even to other adjectives. Some common suffixes – at, ful, less, ev, ed, like, ive, ous, y, ly, ian, io, ish, able, some……. Other letters may have to be added or dropped when suffixes are added.

envy - envious

From verbs talk - talkative

help - helpful

From other adjectives - red - reddish

Prepare a list of 30 words of each category.
