Q1. Complete the Story

1. "It was 6 o'clock in the evening and there was a lot of traffic on the road. Mohan was driving his car when suddenly two teenagers on a bike overtook his car..."

Show answer

Answer: A Lesson on the Road
It was 6 o'clock in the evening and there was a lot of traffic on the road. Mohan was driving his car when suddenly two teenagers on a bike overtook his car. They were riding without helmets, laughing loudly and zigzagging between the vehicles at great speed. Mohan honked and shouted at them to slow down, but they only waved and sped on.
A few minutes later, Mohan saw a crowd ahead. The bike lay on the road, and one of the boys was sitting on the road holding his bleeding arm, while the other lay still. They had hit a divider while trying to overtake a truck. Without wasting a minute, Mohan stopped his car, and with the help of some passers-by, put the injured boys in his car. He called the police on the way and took them to the nearest hospital.
The doctors treated them in time, and said that the boy who had been unconscious had been saved by the quick help. Their parents came running, with tears in their eyes, and thanked Mohan. The boys were ashamed and promised never to ride rashly again.
Moral: Speed thrills but kills. Always follow traffic rules and help the injured.

Teacher's Note: A story should have a title, a beginning that continues the given lines, a turning point, an ending and a moral. Use the past tense.

Subject: Ill-effects of mobile phones on children
Sir,
Through your newspaper I want to draw the attention of parents and teachers to the growing habit of children playing games on their mobile phones, instead of playing outdoors. In our colony, I see young children glued to their screens for hours.
This habit damages their eyesight, causes headaches and sleeplessness, makes them lazy and overweight and affects their studies. They also lose the chance to make friends and to learn teamwork. Some games are violent and make them aggressive.
I request parents to fix limits on screen time and to encourage outdoor play. Schools should also run awareness programmes.
Yours faithfully,
Kamal

Teacher's Note: Give an example if the question allows.
