Dear Students,

Vacations are seen as an antidote to work. They are medicine, a remedy for counteracting the effects of labour and also to rediscover ourselves. This time we have decided to give you something to take home to think besides home work. So get on track for a productive holiday break whilst ensuring that you have more than enough time for rest & relaxation.

 Kindly note that Holiday Home Work will be assessed for FA–2 (10 marks).

 Submit the work on 1st July 2013 positively.

 Parameters of Assessment to be taken into consideration and followed strictly.

ENGLISH

Read the novel ‘The Emerald Crown’ by Sherlock Holmes and make a scrapbook. It should include:

 The gist of the story

 Pictures related to the story and a sentence related to it.

 Make a word wall with new learnt words(at least 15)

 Write their meanings

Parameters for Assessment: Presentation, Grammar, Vocabulary used, Gist, 

 MATHS
Task-1:

Make a beautiful chart or a model on the following topics according to your roll no.

 Properties of natural numbers/whole numbers 

 Number patterns 

 Place value plate 

 Roman Numbers

Task-2:

Take 20 SUDOKO cuttings from newspapers, solve them and paste them in the spiral notebook.

SOCIAL SCIENCE

Task 1: Make model on the well-known ancient period Harappan civilization by showing the whole settlement,citadel,farming activities,drainage system,irrigation system etc. Use your creative skill to make it more appealing and real.

Task 2: Make a model on Sarnath lion capital of Great Ashoka.

Task 3: Make a model on the Sanchi Stupa.

Task 4: Make a Milky Way galaxy:

Step 1: Take a sheet of black chart paper, a pencil, glue, golden glitter, an old newspaper.

Step 2: Take a sheet of black chart paper and draw rough sketch of the Milky Way galaxy as shown on page 86 of your textbook using a pencil. The galaxy is spiral-shaped with five arms and a round centre.

Step 3: Apply glue along the lines of the galaxy.

Step 4: Sprinkle golden glitter on the glue. Then tilt the paper onto some newspaper to shake off the loose glitter. You now have a picture of the Milky Way galaxy. Each grain of glitter represents a single star like that of our sun.
