1. Phylum Protozoa : single celled (solitary or colonial)Eukaryotes
2. Phylum Porifera : Sponges
3. Phylum Cnidaria : Jelly fi shes and sea anemones
4. Phylum Ctenophora* : Comb jellies
5. Phylum Platyhelminthes : Flat warms
6. Phylum Aschelminthes : Round worms or thread worms.
7. Phylum Annelida : Segmented worms (Earthworm, Leech etc.)
8. Phylum Arthropoda : Jointed legged-invertebrates
9. Phylum Mollusca : Snails, bivalves, octopus etc.
10. Phylum Echinodermata : Sea star, Brittle star, Sea lily etc.
11. Phylum Chordata : Protochordates and vertebrates
 
Protozoans are single celled Eukaryotes (classifi ed in Kingdom Protista). The porifers to chordates, all multi-cellular, are called metazoans (placed in Kingdom Animalia). The metazoans are further differentiated into Parazoans and Eumetazoans. The group ‘Parazoa’ includes porifers, having cellular grade of organization, and ‘Eumetazoa’ includes Coelenterates (Cnidarians) to chordates.
