Moving forward in the article, let us focus on the most important aspect, which is the format in which the IEO Class 2 is conducted. The Olympiad question paper is objective in nature and consists of 35 MCQs (Multiple Choice Questions) to be completed in a duration of 60 minutes. The Olympiad exam paper of 35 questions is divided into 4 sections wherein, the first 30 questions are present in section 1, 2, 3 of 1 mark each and the section 4 contains the remaining 5 questions of 2 marks each.
The Syllabus of IEO Class 2 is in accordance with the curriculum prescribed by CBSE, ICSE/ISC and other State Boards. The questions asked in the Olympiad are similar to the ones done in the school with a different level of conceptual based twists.
The detailed syllabus of the 4 Sections of IEO Class 2 is as follows: -
Section 1: Word and Structure Knowledge-
The concepts covered in this section are: Collocations, Spellings, Synonyms, Antonyms, Identify the word from the Picture, Words Related to Animals, Phrases, Idioms, Nouns, Pronouns, Verbs, Adverbs, Adjectives, Articles, Prepositions, Conjunctions, Contractions, Word order, Punctuation, Simple tenses.
Section 2: Reading-
The concepts covered in this section are: Search for and retrieve information from various text types likes stories, short dialogues, etc. Acquire broad understand of and look for specific information in short texts like messages, invitations, etc.
Section 3: Spoken and Written Expression-
The concepts covered in this section are: Ability to understand situation based variations in functions like thanking, greeting, asking for permission, introducing (oneself), etc.
Section 4: Achievers Section-
This section consists of “Higher Order Thinking Questions from the Syllabus prescribed in section 1, 2 and 3.
Normally, the IEO Exam is conducted in 2 levels, but for Class 2 the evaluation is based on their performance in Level 1 only and they are not required to appear for the Level 2 IEO Examination.
The IEO Class 2 Result is declared in both offline and online modes. The Olympiad result is send to the registered schools and the students can also check their results on the official website of the foundation. The participating students in IEO Class 2 are issued SPR, that is, the Student Performance Report which gives a detailed analysis of the student’s performance in the Olympiad.
