Let us discuss the format in which the IEO Class 3 is conducted. The Olympiad question paper is objective in nature and consists of 35 MCQs (Multiple Choice Questions) to be completed in a duration of 60 minutes. The Olympiad exam paper of 35 questions is divided into 4 sections wherein, the first 30 questions are present in section 1, 2, 3 of 1 mark each and the section 4 contains the remaining 5 questions of 2 marks each.

The IEO Class 3 Examination is conducted in 2 levels, wherein the level 1 of Olympiad is 60% from the current class syllabus and 40% from the previous class. However, the questions of Achievers section as well as all the questions from level 2 come from the current class syllabus only.

The Syllabus of IEO Class 3 is in accordance with the curriculum prescribed by CBSE, ICSE/ISC and other State Boards. The detailed syllabus of the 4 Sections of IEO Class 3 is as follows: -  

Section 1: Word and Structure Knowledge-

This section consists of: Word Power: Homophones, Collocations, Spellings, Words related to animals, Household things, Clothes, Basic Emotions, Food, Animals and Pets, etc. Synonyms and Antonyms, Gender, Number, Proverbs, Idioms, One Word, Nouns, Pronouns, Verbs, Adverbs, Adjectives, Articles, Preposition, Simple Tenses, Conjunctions and Punctuation, Basic Questions, Question tags, Jumbled Words, etc.

Section 2: Reading-

This section consists of: Search for and retrieve information from various text types likes Stories, Anecdotes, etc. Understanding information through pictures, Time Table format, etc., Acquire broad understand of and look for specific information in short texts like messages, invitations, etc.

Section 3: Spoken and Written Expression-

This section consists of: Ability to understand situation based variations in functions like apology, greetings, introduction, request, etc.

Section 4: Achievers Section-

This section consists of “Higher Order Thinking Questions from the Syllabus prescribed in section 1, 2 and 3.

The IEO Class 3 Result is declared in both offline and online modes. The result of the English Olympiad is send to the registered schools and the students can also check their results on the official website of the foundation. SPR, the Student Performance Report is issued to the participating students with a detailed analysis of the student’s performance in the Olympiad.

The tentative important dates with respect to IEO Class 3 are as follows: -

IEO Class 3 Examination: November – December

IEO Class 3 Result: December – January

The toppers of the IEO Class 3 examination are awarded on the basis of their ranks in Level 2. The felicitation is done for the winning students and schools at the zonal as well as international level by the regulating foundation.
