A). Reading Section :  

Reading Comprehension of an unseen passage followed by short answer questions.
 
B). Writing Section :  
1. Essay Writing (topics related to the textual lessons from the prescribed text book)
(Out of Three topics, one should be attempted) 7 marks
2. Letter writing (applications, official letters to authorities) 7 Marks
3. Reporting of simple events / incidents for Newspaper 4 Marks
 
C). Grammar Section :  
While giving the knowledge of formal grammar, emphasis should be laid on its functional / applied aspect so as to promote good understanding of the language and to promote appropriate linguistics skills.
1. Transformation of sentences based on the text book.
a). Active Voice and Passive Voice b). Simple and Compound sentences.
(Angavakyam and Angivakyam) . c). Sentence making. (Idioms and phrases from Text books).
d). Sentence correction. (Sentences based from Textbooks ) (01marks each)04 Marks
2.a).Vocabulary Building:-(i).Antonyms (Opposite). (ii). Homophones (Arthavyathyasam)
(iii). Split the words (Pirichezhuth). (iv).Separate the components of the compound words. (Vigrahartham) (1 Marks each) 04 Marks
b). (Synonyms, (Paryayam,) Homonyms ( Nanartham), (2 Marks Each) 04 Marks
 
D) Literature Section -- Prose and Poetry :
