* To convert rupees into paise, we multiply the amount in rupees by 100 .
* To convert an amount expressed in figures into paise, we remove the symbol and the point .
* 1 rupee = 100 paise .

Q4) Convert the following amounts into paise : - (Do all the sums a-l )
a) 5 rupees = 5 x 100 paise . = 500 paise . Ans 500 paise .

d) 6 rupees 69 paise = 6 x 100 paise + 69 paise .
= 600 + 69
= 669 paise .
Ans 669 paise .

g) 24 rupees 6 paise = 24 x 100 paise + 06 paise .
= 2400 + 06
= 2406 paise .
Ans 2406 paise .

h) rs 0.95 = 0 x 100 paise + 95 paise .
= 0 + 95
= 95 paise .
Ans 95 paise .

Q5) Do Q-5 in the book .
Q6) How many 5-paise coins will make : (Do all the sums a-d)
a) rs 8.90 = 8 x 100 + 90
= 800 + 90
= 890 Paise
Now no of 5-paise coins = 890/5 = 178 coins .
Ans 178 coins .

Q7) How many 10-paise coins will make : (Do all the sums a-d )
a) rs 6.40 = 6 x 100 + 40
= 600 + 40
= 640 Paise .

Now no of 10-paise coins = 640/10 = 64 coins .

Add the following amounts by converting into paise –
Q1) 18 rupees 36 paise and 29 rupees 58 paise--
= 18 rupees 36 paise( convert into paise )
= 18 x 100 + 36 paise
= 1800 + 36 = 1836 paise …..(1) step
Now = 29 rupees 58 paise
= 29 rupees 58 paise( convert into paise )
= 29 x 100 + 58 paise
= 2900 + 58 = 2958 paise …..(2) step
Now add = (1) + (2)
= 1836 + 2958 paise ( add in rough column )
= 4794 paise .
Ans 4794 paise

Arrange the following amounts in columns and add .

Do all the sums from 1-4,14 to 21 in Maths Note book..

Subtract the following amounts by converting into paise –
Q1) 19 rupees 85 paise from 37 rupees 40 paise--
= 19 rupees 85 paise ( convert into paise )
= 19 x 100 + 85 paise
= 1900 + 85 = 1985 paise …..(1) step
Now = 37 rupees 40 paise
= 37 rupees 40 paise( convert into paise )
= 37 x 100 + 40 paise
= 3700 + 40 = 3740 paise …..(2) step
Now Subtract = (2) – ( 1)
= 3740 – 1985 paise ( Subtract in rough column )
= 1755 paise .
Ans 1755 paise

Find the difference between following amounts .

Question 1. It's vacation time and you are planning to visit a hill station with your family. You go shopping with your Mom and Dad. Add up the price of different items to see if you can afford them or not. Your Mom tells you that you cannot spend more than Rs 3000.

1. How much would it cost you to buy a baseball hat, scarf and socks
2. What will be cost of shoes, christmas hat and jacket?
3. What would you buy? Why?

Answer:
1. Cost of baseball hat, scarf, and socks:
Rs. 575 + Rs. 600 + Rs. 125 = Rs. 1300

2. Cost of shoes, Christmas hat, and jacket:
Rs. 780 + Rs. 250 + Rs. 2250 = Rs. 3280

3. We will buy the items in question (1). Their total cost is Rs. 1300. This is less than Rs. 3000. The items in question (2) cost Rs. 3280. That is more than we are allowed to spend.
Items in question (1)
In simple words: We can only spend Rs. 3000. The first group of clothes costs Rs. 1300, so we can buy them. The second group costs too much.
