सुविधा और मनोरंजन के उपकरणों से बच्चों के वंचित रहने के मुख्य कारण सामाजिक व्यवस्था और आर्थिक मज़बूरी है। समाज के गरीब तबके के बच्चों को न चाहते हुए भी अपने माता-पिता का हाथ बँटाना पड़ता है। जहाँ जीविका के लिए इतनी मेहनत करनी पड़े तब सुख-सुविधाओं की कल्पना करना असंभव सा लगता है।

इस उदासीनता के कई कारण हैं। लोग आत्मकेंद्रित होने के साथ संवेदनहीन भी हो रहे हैं। उन्हें सिर्फ अपने काम से मतलब होता है। दुसरो के कष्टो को वे जानने समझने का प्रयास नही करते। कई लोगो में जागरूकता की भी कमी है। उन्हें यह भी नही पता की पढाई हर बच्चे का मौलिक अधिकार है। वे सिर्फ ईश्वर और बच्चों के भाग्य को दोष देते हैं।

उत्तर
बच्चे इस देश का भविष्य हैं। यदि बच्चे पढ़ लिख नही पाते तब हमारे देश की आने वाली पीढ़ी भी पिछड़ी होगी, देश का भविष्य अंधकारपूर्ण होगा। उन्हें उनके बचपन से वंचित रखना अपराध तथा अमानवीय कर्म है। इसलिए बच्चों का काम पर जाना धरती के एक बड़े हादसे के समान है।
