આ કવિતામાં રસ્તાઓને મુખ્ય વિષય બનાવીને કવિની ભ્રમણપ્રીતિ વ્યક્ત કરવામાં આવી છે. રસ્તાઓ કવિને જુદી-જુદી દિશાઓમાંથી બોલાવે છે. આ રસ્તાઓ કવિને શાંતિથી બેસવા દેતા નથી. તેઓ તેમને ચાલવા માટે લલચાવે છે. રસ્તાઓ કવિના સ્વપ્નમાં પણ આવે છે. આ કવિતામાં એક રસપ્રદ વાત પણ છે. કવિની ફરવાની ઇચ્છાને કારણે રસ્તાનો વિસ્તાર વધતો જાય છે. ધીમે-ધીમે રસ્તાઓ અને પૃથ્વીને તેઓ એટલા પસંદ કરવા લાગે છે કે મૃત્યુ પછી પણ તેમને રસ્તાઓનું આકર્ષણ રહે છે. કવિને આશા છે કે હજી ઘણા રસ્તાઓ એવા છે જેના પર તેઓ ચાલ્યા નથી. આ બધું કવિના ભ્રમણપ્રીતિને દર્શાવે છે.

The poet has shown his great love for wandering by choosing 'The Roads' as his main topic. The roads call the poet from different directions. The roads do not let the poet rest. They always tempt him to walk. They even appear in his dreams. There is an interesting point in this poem. Due to the poet's love for travel, the presence of roads seems to grow. Gradually, he starts loving the roads and the Earth so much that even after death, the desire for roads remains. The poet hopes that there are still many roads he has not walked on yet.

આ રસ્તાઓ કાવ્યની સમજૂતી (Explanation of the Poem)

આ રસ્તાઓ મને જરા પણ શાંતિથી બેસવા દેતા નથી. તેઓ ઘર વગરના ચોરની જેમ ઘરમાં પ્રવેશે છે. મારા મનને આકર્ષિત કરીને મારો હાથ પકડીને ઘરની બહાર ખેંચી જાય છે. તેઓ શાંતિથી સુવા પણ દેતા નથી. સ્વપ્નમાં પણ તેઓ નજરે પડે છે.

The roads do not allow me to sit peacefully at all. They enter the house like a thief without a home. They attract my mind and pull me out of the house by taking my hand. They do not even let me sleep peacefully. They appear in my dreams too.

પૃથ્વીની આસપાસ રસ્તાઓ કેટલી મજબૂત રીતે વીંટળાયા છે! જાણે કે નવા અક્ષાંશ ઉપર નવી રેખાંશની અનોખી ગૂંથણી કરી હોય!

How tightly the roads wrapped around the earth! It seems like wonderful new knitting of longitudes on new latitudes.

અરે, આ રસ્તાઓ સમુદ્રના પાણીમાં વાંકા અંકોડાની જેમ પડ્યા છે! રસ્તાઓ વૃક્ષની ડાળીઓની જેમ ફેલાયા છે, જાણે મધપૂડા હોય!

Oh, these roads have fallen like bent hooks in the sea-water! The roads spread like branches of a tree, like beehives!

વસ્તીવધારાની જેમ નાની એવી કોમળ કૂંપળની જેમ વિસ્તર્યા છે! રસ્તાઓએ મને આ પૃથ્વીની પ્રીત પણ એવી આપી છે; જેથી હું દીવાલોની ભીતર ગૃહિણીની જેમ ઘર કરી શકતો નથી. મારું મન રસ્તાઓના આકર્ષણમાં એટલું બંધાઈ ગયું છે કે સ્વર્ગે ગયા પછી પણ હું પૃથ્વી પર પાછો ફરીશ, કારણ કે હજી ઘણા રસ્તાઓ પર હું ચાલ્યો નથી.

They have spread like small, soft tender leaves, similar to population growth! The roads have given me such love for this Earth that I cannot live in the house like a housewife. My mind is so attracted to the roads that I will return to Earth even after going to heaven, because I have not walked on many roads yet.
