19. Great personalities of the past Objective
Background
A city or village may be known for renowned writers, painters, poets, social reformers, soldiers, industrialists, social scientists, and scientists, etc., who were born or have worked in that place. Many of them find a place in books, magazines, etc., but some of them do not. It is important to remember their contributions so that they can be an inspiration to the present generation.
Methodology
Select a renowned personality belonging to your village/town/city/region and collect the following information from elders, libraries or local newspapers with respect to: Project Book in Environmental Education
1. The name of the personality, date of birth (or period when she or he lived), locality in the village/city where he or she lived.
2. Family background including names of parents, spouse and children.
3. Main area of work and its impact on society including at the local level.
