The CBSE (Central Board Secondary Education) increased the examination fees for classes 10 and 12 of the 2020 boards, with no profit no loss principle, from Rs. 750 to Rs 1500, for all categories of students, including SC/ST candidates for all schools throughout India, with the exception of the Delhi Government Schools, “the minister said in a written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha.
Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) students who paid 375 in advance will now pay 1,200 for five subjects. Under a special arrangement in the national capital, these students paid only 50, while the Delhi government paid the rest of the amount as a subsidy.
After the CBSE decision, the Delhi government announced that students at state-run and aided schools will not be required to pay any fees for class 10 and 12 CBSE exams and the cost will be paid through the city dispensation.
Hike in Fees – “done on no profit, no loss principle” – is applicable to all the students including SC/ST candidates for all schools except for schools of Delhi government.
In the matter of paying examination fees, there has never been a distinction (with the exception of Delhi) between different categories of students. The same fees have always been paid by all categories including SC, ST, General, and OBC.
