CUET History

The CUET History (Subject Code: 314) exam is a very important subject for students aiming for B.A. (Hons) History, Archaeology, or Civil Services-oriented undergraduate programs. For this year exam, the NTA has maintained a strict focus on the NCERT Class 12 syllabus, titled Themes in Indian History. The syllabus has been divided into mainly three parts: Ancient India (Harappan Archaeology, Mauryan & Gupta periods), Medieval India (Bhakti-Sufi traditions, Mughal agrarian relations, and the Vijayanagara Empire), and Modern India (Colonialism, the 1857 Revolt, and the Gandhian Movement). To get more marks in exams more than just memorizing dates; you must understand Source-Based and Chronological MCQs. The NTA often includes extracts from historical texts like the Mahabharata, Ain-i-Akbari, or travelogues of Al-Biruni and Ibn Battuta. You will be asked to interpret them through a historian's lens. High-weightage chapters like The Story of the First Cities (Harappan Civilisation) and Mahatma Gandhi and the National Movement typically account for a significant chunk of the paper. To get more marks in the +5 / -1 marking scheme, you must be able to solve 50 questions in 60 minutes.
