It also had a round nose. Peter loved his panda very much. He named him Piper. He took good care of Piper. Peter would carry Piper every place that he would go. (a) She ______ very well. (draw / draws)
(b) I ______ to play basketball. (like / likes)
(c) My uncle ______ in a museum. (work / works) [3 marks]
View Answer & Explanation
Answer: (a) draws (She is singular, so the verb takes s.)
(b) like (With I, we use the plain verb.)
(c) works (My uncle is one person, so the verb takes s.)
Teacher's Note:
1. He, she, it and one person or thing take a verb ending in s in the present tense.

(c) jump → jumped (add ed)
(d) fry → fried (change y to i, add ed)
Teacher's Note:
1. Most verbs add ed, but some verbs change completely or stay the same, so learn them.

Teacher's Note:
1. A preposition shows where something is or when something happens.

(a) The children are playing in the park.

Teacher's Note:
1. The subject tells who or what the sentence is about, and the predicate tells what it does.
