اَے شان دار گنگا
اَے پُر بہار گنگا
گنگوتری سے نکلی کیسی اُچھل اُچھل کر
اور پربتوں سے اُتری پہلو بدل بدل کر
پتّھر بہائے تو نے جو راستے میں آئے
کودی بلندیوں سے جلوے عجب دکھائے
اک راہ میں بنائے سَو آبشار گنگا
اے شان دار گنگا
اے پُر بہار گنگا

وہ اپنی رَو میں بہنا اُونچے سُروں میں گانا
چڑیوں کا مست رہنا سُن کر ترا ترانا
اور وہ جو سُن کے نغمے دیتے تھے داد تجھ کو
لیتے تھے گودیوں میں جو شاد شاد تجھ کو
کرتے ہیں یاد تجھ کو وہ کوہسار گنگا
اے شان دار گنگا
اے پُر بہار گنگا
استاد کا نوٹ
الف) نظم کے مطابق گنگا گنگوتری سے نکلتی ہے اور پربتوں سے اُتر کر آتی ہے۔
ب) 'اے شان دار گنگا، اے پُر بہار گنگا' ہر بند کے بعد دہرایا گیا ہے؛ ہر بند کا آخری مصرع بھی 'گنگا' پر ختم ہوتا ہے۔
ج) 'آبشار' یعنی جھرنا، اور 'کوہسار' یعنی پہاڑ۔

جنگل پہاڑ چھوڑے، میدان بسائے تو نے
اب اور ہی طرح کے، نقشے جمائے تو نے
گنگا بہائی ایسی کھیتوں کو بھر دیا ہے
پودوں کو جان دی ہے، پھولوں کو زر دیا ہے
سَیراب کر دیا ہے ہر لالہ زار گنگا
اے شان دار گنگا
اے پُر بہار گنگا

استاد کا نوٹ
الف) تیسرے بند میں بتایا گیا ہے کہ پہاڑوں سے اُتر کر گنگا نے میدانوں کے کھیتوں کو پانی سے بھر دیا۔
ب) 'سَیراب کرنا' یعنی پانی سے تر کر دینا، اور 'لالہ زار' یعنی پھولوں سے بھرا باغ۔
ج) 'اُچھل اُچھل کر' اور 'بدل بدل کر' جیسے دہرائے گئے لفظ ندی کے تیز بہاؤ کی تصویر بناتے ہیں۔
