Subject: Relief Fund for Uttarakhand Floods
Sir/Madam,
Through the columns of your esteemed daily, I would like to draw the attention of the general public towards the havoc caused by the June 2012 floods in Uttarakhand.
Those dreadful floods wiped out hundreds of villages, leaving people homeless, jobless and miserable. People lost their dear ones, their businesses, their homes and remained in those treacherous conditions for many days without food, water and shelter. As a responsible citizen of my country, I want to urge the general public to donate generously to the Uttarakhand Relief Fund and help the flood victims get hold of their life again. We cannot imagine what they must have gone through but even our small contribution can make a lot of difference in their lives. We should make every effort to restore the normal life there.
I wish to utilise this space to request the general public to come forward and send their help wholeheartedly to these people in distress.
I hope you will publish this letter so that more and more relief is sent to Uttarakhand as soon as possible.
Thank you
Yours sincerely

Subject: Mosquito Menace and Dengue in City
Sir/Madam,
Through the columns of your esteemed daily, I wish to draw the attention of the concerned authorities towards the mosquito menace and rapidly spreading dengue in our city. This has been a regular thing since past two-three years during monsoons. Now, the city is distressed by the mosquito menace. Poor condition of roads, open manholes and drains become breeding grounds of mosquitoes after heavy downpours every year.
The unattended garbage and stagnant water result in dangerous mosquitoes and as a result, a spurt of dengue fever becomes a common sight in the city. This year too has been no different and more than a thousand victims have been hospitalised in different parts of the city.
There is an urgent need to create awareness of the problem of dengue. The concerned authorities should maintain cleanliness in the city and fill up all the breeding ground of mosquitoes. Stronger chemicals should be used in order to kill the existing mosquitoes. Even the general public should keep their surroundings clean and not leave water accumulated anywhere, wear full sleeves clothes and stay alert to prevent this dangerous disease from spreading.
I hope that the authorities will pay heed and take some remedial actions immediately.
Thank you
Yours faithfully

Subject: Urgent Action Required for Low Hanging Electric Wires
Sir/Madam,
Through the columns of your esteemed daily, I wish to draw the attention of the concerned authorities towards electric wires hanging really low in the city. In many of cities’ most crowded areas, such high tension electric wires remain neglected. Of late, many life threatening accidents have taken place because of it. The loose wires can be even more dangerous during storms and rainy season. There are monkeys also in same areas and with their menace, it can be life threatening as they jump around with the help of wires. It is a threat to vehicles also.
I hope my voice reaches the authorities and a prompt action is taken to remove the problem. As a responsible citizen, it is my duty to bring forth such topics of concerns and I am hopeful of a immediate action and removal of these wires.
Thank you
