As grain had to be stored both for food and seed, for storing they began making clay pots,or woven baskets or dug pits into the ground.

Answer : Hunter-gatherers kept travelling from place to place, whereas farmers had to live at same place for longer periods of time to take care of their crops. Answer : Mehrgarh is considered an important place located in the plain near the Bolan pass in present day Pakistan. This site shows the earliest evidence Of farming and herding in South Asia. The Village had rectangular houses made of mud bricks. Several rooms were used for storing grains. The pe- ople of Mehrgarh grew wheat, barley and cotton. They kept sheep, goat and cattle. At some sites like Mehrgarh, microliths and bone tools have been found . At Mehrgarh people learnt to make clay pots , and learnt to make pottery on the potter’s wheel too. They also painted designs on pots . At Mehrgarh , the dead were buried in pits , sometimes with dom- estic animals . The animals could have been meant to serve as food for the dead.
