Answer : Greenland, the world’s largest island ,is situated towards North-East of North America. The island is white as it remains under snow and ice through out the year .

Q2) Write five sentences on the climate of Greenland.
Answer : 1) Greenland has an arctic type of climate.
2) The winters are long and cold .
3) Summer is short and cool .
4) Extremely cold and chilly winds blow here .
5) The weather is bright and sunny, especially in the coastal areas .

Q3) What is the effect of the climate on the vegetation of Greenland ?
Answer : The only plants that grow here are mosses , lichens , grasses and bushes. There are no forests here . No crops can grow here due to the cold climate 

Q4) What kind of animals live in Greenland ?
Answer : Only animals with thick furry coats or those which can withstand extreme cold can survive in Greenland . Musk-ox , whale , seal, PolarBear , Reindeers are some of the animals found in Greenland .

Q5) Write short note on igloos .
Answer : The people who live in the extreme north build snow – houses or lgloos during the winter season . They use large blocks of ice to construct them . The igloos are dome shaped . A hole is made in the centre of the dome to allow smoke and hot air to pass through . The floor is covered with the skins and furs of animals .
