सरकार ने समाज के सभी वर्गों को आगे आने और पानी की प्रत्येक बूंद को बचाने के लिए प्रेरित किया है। हम खाली होती और सूखती नदियों, तालाबों, कुँओं और ट्यूबवैलों के साक्षी हैं। हमें शांत नहीं बैठना चाहिए। 'जल संरक्षण कार्यक्रम के अन्तर्गत हम सभी स्तरों पर वर्षा जल संचयन के प्रयास कर रहे हैं। किसानों को उनके खेतों के चारों तरफ 'मेड़' या 'बंध' बनाकर पानी को इकट्ठा करने को कहा जाएगा। इसी तरह जल स्रोत जैसे कुँओं और तालाबों को और गहरा एवं साफ किया जाएगा। पुराने बाँधो की मरम्मत होगी और नदियों के ऊपर नए बाँध बनाए जाएगें ताकि हम और अधिक जल संरक्षित कर सकें । कितना अद्भुत दृश्य होगा जब हमारे कुँए, तालाब और नदियाँ पानी से भरे होंगे और बच्चे अपने गाँव के तालाबों में तैराकी करते दिखाई देंगे। ट्यूबवैल अपने आप ही भर जाएँगे और पूरे साल हमें निरंतर पानी देते रहेंगे।
