Tropical Evergreen Forest:

¶ The trees are of varying lengths. The forest is so dense that trees grow very tall in search of sunlight.
¶ Rainfall in the region is more than 200 cms. As a result, various species grow in the region and since various species shed and wither at different times, the forest appears evergreen.

Tropical Deciduous Forests:
The forests wither and shed their leaves together to conserve water during 6 to 8 weeks in hot and dry season.

Tropical Dry Forest / Tropical Thorn And Scrub Forest) (Xerophytic vegetation):
¶ Trees of the forest adapt themselves to less than 25 cms of rainfall by having long roots to extract water.
¶ They have small leaves, hard thorns and sharp spines to reduce transpiration to save themselves from dry climate.

Tidal / Delta / Litorral Forests:
¶ They have a tangled root system to survive in soft and shifting mud.
¶ They have aerial roots or stilted roots which are exposed to the air during low tides. The mangrove mud is oxygen poor and plants have root adaptations to cope with these conditions.
