Class 10 and Class 12 Board Exams to be resumed only for Main Subjects

The CBSE Board Exams have been postponed twice this year!

New Delhi: The Education Ministry has urged the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) to reinstitute the board exams only for the main subjects. As per the official statement the Board will not conduct exams for the remaining subjects. The main subjects will incorporate the subjects which are needed for promotion and critical for admission in higher education institutions.

The CBSE Board Exams have been postponed twice this year. The first time it was because of the riots that occurred in February in the North East part of Delhi and the second time it's due to the devastating COVID- 19 Outbreak.

Keeping this in mind, the Education Ministry has asked CBSE to decide upon and re-schedule the Board Exams whenever they feel it is the right environment and they are in the best position to conduct it.

In the schools located in the riots affected areas of North East Delhi, the Class 12 board exams will be conducted for English Elective - N, English Elective -C, English Core, Mathematics, Economics, Biology, Political Science, History, Physics, Accountancy and Chemistry. Whereas, in the rest of the country the standard XII board exams will be conducted for Business Studies, Geography, Hindi (Elective), Hindi (Core), Home Science, Sociology, Computer Science (Old), Computer Science (New), Information Practice (Old), Information Practice (new), Information Technology and Bio-Technology.

As far as standard 10 Board Exams are concerned, in the schools located in the riots affected areas of North East Delhi, the X standard Board Exams will be conducted for Hindi Course A, Hindi Course B, English Communication, English Language & Literature, Science and Social Science subjects. Whereas, the X standard board exams will not be conducted in the schools which are located in areas other than the affected areas of North East Delhi.

For CBSE Schools Situated outside the Country, there would be No More Exams!

There are a number of CBSE schools located abroad wherein every country is facing the heat of this sudden pandemic. Thus the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has dropped all plans to conduct any further board exams in these schools for this academic year 2020. There are numerous CBSE schools spread over 25 countries and each of these countries are also under lockdown and have decided to close down the educational institutes for the safety of students, teachers and the school staff due to the fast spreading threat of Coronavirus. Different countries have taken a call for the closures for different period of time. Thus, under such adverse circumstances, it is very difficult for the Board to hold different set of exams for each of these countries. Therefore the Board has expressed its discomfort and decided to not hold any more exams for the schools located abroad.

Moreover, in this current detrimental scenario, where life is on the edge, it will be next to impossible to bring the answer sheets to India for the process of evaluation. This is another reason why the Board has decided to not conduct any more exams for the students of standard X and XII in schools located outside India. Do free online mock tests here.

On 18th March 2020, according to the directions from the Education Ministry, the Board had declared to postpone the board exams. It was at that time only that the Ministry had committed to announce the new exam dates after 31st March 2020 once the acute situation improves in the country.

A week later it was updated by the Ministry that it has instructed the Board to set new dates and plan a revised schedule.

And recently a call has been taken to expedite the exam completion procedure by squeezing the Board Exam Schedule.
