Two version of Mathematics Books

Mathematics is considered to be one of the most difficult subjects by students. Its either really scoring for students who understand it or can lead to failures. NCERT did National Achievement Survey to assess the education standards amongst students of Class 3, 5 and 8 for mathematics, environment studies and language and found that mathematics is considered to be the toughest subject.

CBSE has considered the concerns of the students and now plans to have two set of books for mathematics for class 11 and class 12 from next session onwards. Option will be given to students to choosing between an easier and an advanced course. CBSE has sent this proposal to NCERT for final approval.

Students will have option to choose either of the courses (easier or harder) from year 2019-20 onwards if the proposal is passed by NCERT also.

Currently same set of books is taught to students of arts, commerce and science streams. This will give option to arts and commerce students to choose the easier version if they want.

Under the new suggested system, the advanced mathematics paper will have more content and a higher difficulty level, and vice versa for the easier version.

If NCERT approves the proposal, a committee will design the syllabus and books which will be applicable in all CBSE affiliated schools from next year onwards.
