School heads welcome the jammers imposed by CBSE in schools

The CBSE has decided to introduce jammers in schools. The main motive would be to block websites related to child pornography. Principals and teachers of several schools have welcomed the idea. The authorities still have to decide when to install the jammers in the schools.

The teachers emphasized the need to keep such content out of reach of people, especially children.

Harmeet Kaur Waraich, Principal, Nandana Sahib Public School, says this is a serious matter. According to her, Supreme Court and Centre have given the right decision as technology can be misused.

Actually, the anti-social elements also have access to such sites. Blocking of these sites near premises of school would have a direct impact on them.

There are going to be other benefits for the school too. It will prevent a possibility of misusing the phones during the examination.

A schoolteacher said, In spite of having strict rules, students continue to bring mobile phones to school. It is not practical to every day check school bags of each student.

She further added that the students are at a sensitive age. They still cannot differentiate between right and wrong. They also get distracted easily. Thus it becomes more important to prevent access to unacceptable content. Jammers can help by preventing students from having access to such content at least in and around the school.

Anu Verma, Principal, Police DAV School, said that blocking such content is helpful to some extent. CBSE Students also need to be guided about its effects. It not only will distract their concentration but also affect their career and life in future.
