As per latest information available a notification has been issued by the HRD ministry according to which NCERT Books are not mandatory to be prescribed by CBSE schools. The schools can also prescribe other books which must comply to the prescribed syllabus.
There was a confusion earlier that NCERT books were made compulsory but this notification clears the doubts. Confirmation has also come from NCERT, NCERT has rectified all factual errors in the NCERT books, all books have been again reviewed and have been correctly updated. This comes in response to the news which came couple of months which stated that there were multiple factual errors in various NCERT books.
