Mathematics is an easy subject. Why ?

Mathematics is considered to be one of the most difficult subject by majority of the students. Most of the students are afraid of the subject due to which they get less marks in tests and examinations which lowers their overall score for the examinations. Parents are also not aware of the ways to teach mathematics and force the students to take up tuitions which sometimes further confuses the child and increases the fear of mathematics amongst students.

Its important to understand that mathematics is one of the subjects which is the easiest to get marks as the marking system followed is extremely objective (its not like English where the answers or writing style may differ from student to student which can lead to difference in marks). All answers to questions are based on predefined formulas according too which the answers have to be obtained to get full marks. Following are some of the basic facts which the parents and students should keep in mind while studying mathematics :

Mathematics is a subject which needs to be generalized while studying. The same steps are to be carried in the problem dealing with one concept and a new question is being formed by only changing the numbers in it. So almost all questions of a particular concept are all similar in nature. So its important to understand the concept before jumping on the questions to practice.
The base of mathematics is arithmetic. The students should be well versed with the rules of BODMAS and have excellence in tables from 1 to 20 on finger tips.
Try to study not more than one concept in a single day and practice atleast 10 questions on the learnt concept of that day (practice should be done on the same day)
Revising the concepts is extremely important. There should be a gap of 1-2 days (maximum) from the day of learning the concept and re-practicing the questions and during weekends try to solve atleast 5 questions per concept learnt during the week.
Try to read the chapter in brief before the teacher teaches in the class which will help the student a lot.
