Digital mark sheets and documents by CBSE

In line with the Digital India mission of PM Modi, CBSE has planned to send mark sheets and other related documents for class 10 and class 12 students digitally via digital lockers. This move will help more than 80 lakh students to get their documents like marksheets, migration certificates and passing certificates on the date of declaration of results itself.

The certificates and other documents will be digitally signed and will be acceptable at all schools and universities wherever the students want to move or take admissions.

This will also help save thousands of tress and unnecessary expenditure by CBSE. Huge quantities of paper used to be ordered by CBSE to print lakhs of documents in addition to huge printing and delivery costs.

CBSE also has also opened 80 lakh digital lockers for Class 10th and Class 12th students.

At an estimate, almost 30 crores sheets and 50,000 trees will be saved through this process and will also reduce carbon footprint.

The move will be more beneficial if there will not be any need for students to take print outs of the documents and will be acceptable only digitally at all places. Though CBSE has kick started the initiative but will have to be adopted by all institutions to ensure students are not forced to take prints which will negate the impact of putting the documents in digital formats.

CBSE is also planning to issue the admit cards digitally with features like bar code scanning etc to reduce paper requirements. We will have to wait to see how all this gets properly implemented.
