Development of Speaking Skill among Students

GENISIS—

Education aims at the holistic development of students. It is a powerful tool that enables a person to survive successfully in the society by taking rational decisions and to bring them at par with the world. Now a day every sector is using English whether it is business, study, games, technology etc. So the English language has become the need of the hour. Speaking and language fluency allows one to feel confident.  It has been observe that students, who are not fluent in English, often feel shy or hesitation to converse in English. This leads them to embarrassing situations.

To develop the confidence among the students and to make them fluent in CBSE English language, our group undertaken the project- `Development of Speaking Skill. `

PREPARATORY WORK-

We started with a group discussion among all the members if our group and all of us shared our experiences. We reached to a conclusion that the English language class goes not much lively especially in Class VI-VII due to communication gap between the teacher and the students. Students must be encouraged to converse in the English language. After this at the later stages they would start to converse in English language only without any hesitation and shyness. So we set our target to make them fluent in English language.

In order to achieve the target, at the preparatory level, we arranged and divided the plan of action in three different phases, those were following-

A-    Elementary

B-    Preparatory

C-    Blooming

 

OBJECTIVES- 

We have set a verity of objectives according to the need and requirement of each phase. The detail is here-

Phase I- Elementary

1-     To get the permission from the head of the CBSE school.

2-     To check the level and previous knowledge of the students, to start the project and to prepare proper strategies and approaches.

3-      To get the concern of the parents.

4-     To involve participation and support of the fellow teacher.

 

 

Phase II- Preparatory

1-     Conduction of activities, in a proper manner, those were designed on the basis of pre-test.

2-     Use of available resources in a very systematic way.

3-     Execution of the follow up action.

4-     To ensure the active involvement of the parents.

 

 

 Phase III- Blooming

1-     To do systematic and planned work according to the growth of the students.

2-     To keep the development on track.

3-     To ensure the active participation of the students in different activities in at regional as well as national level.

4-     To make them feel confident so that they can keep a pace with the modern world.

 

 

Execution of the plan

After setting the targets, the main task was the execution of actions designed according to the objectives of each phase. The actions and activities adopted and conducted during the project were following-

1-     To make the head of department aware about the project.

2-     To get the concern of the parents.

3-     To conduct a pre-test for checking the level and pre-knowledge of the students.

4-     Self introduction

5-     Habit of use of dictionary

6-     Role play

7-     Visit to a place

8-     Speaking on interesting topic/ the topic of choice.

9-     Extempore

10-   Drama

11-  Quiz

12-  Debate

13-  Talk show

14-  Dummy press conference

15-  Lectures from the guest lectures

16-  Story Telling

17-   Morning assembly participation

18-  Playing English audio clips during lunch

19-  Interviews and radio shows

20-  Inviting parents for interaction

21-  Taking active involvement of subject teachers and games teacher
