The state government has decided to bring out NCERT published text books to CBSE and it will be implemented in a step by step process. As an initiation of this movement government is planning to introduce NCERT textbooks to class I to class VII in the next academic year.
There has been a huge demand among students to adopt NCERT textbooks because it is considered as a principal book for competitive exams in central level
NCERT syllabus will be introduced in Gujarat schools of classes I, III and VI in next academic year, and classes II, IV, VII will be affected by the change in the syllabus in 2019-20 says the notification issued by the state government.
Also, a change in syllabus will be carried out in 2020-21 in class V and class VIII and in class IX the change will be in next year
These NCERT textbooks will undergo a translation to Gujarati before introducing them to schools. Mathematics will be considered as a subject and will be implemented in class starting from I to VII and science and social science will be introduced to VI to VIII as per NCERT.It is made clear that Gujarat specific subjects will be made available for Gujarat students in NCERT books
Meanwhile, the language subjects will be of Gujarat state Textbook board and two subjects will also be introduced to class I and II because of the lack of science subjects in Gujarat for these classes.NCERT permission will be obtained if required by the textbook board before sending the textbook for printing
Education Department introduced NCERT syllabus on a pilot basis and so far 50 English medium schools agreed to run this pilot experiment
