Hollywood is generally considered the film capital of the world. It is not a city, but a district of Los Angeles. About 210,000 people live in that area. The Hollywood Bowl, a large open- air theatre is famous for its symphony programmes, concerts and Easter services. (Para 1)

The popular Walk of Fame consists of more than 1800 bronze stars set in the pavements along the Hollywood street. Each star has the name of a Hollywood celebrity. The huge Hollywood sign is a landmark that has been built in the hills above the district in 1922. Each letter of the sign is 14 metres tall. (Para2)

The Nestor Company built the first film studio in Hollywood in 1911.Hollywood became the centre of the film industry because it has a mild, dry climate and it lies in an area with a vast variety of natural scenery. Within 300 kilometres, almost every kind of scenic background is available to the filmmakers. (Para 3)
