Every year around 2 lakh candidates apply for admission in Engineering, B.Pharm and Farm Science programs. This state level exam is quite competitive and candidate needs to prepare well. Below are some preparation tips:

  1. Exam Pattern: before starting candidate must go through the exam structure to get aware of sections, marking scheme and how to prepare a strategy for the exam.
  2. KCET offline exam includes Objective type questions i.e. candidate will be given multiple options and they have to choose the correct answer
  3. KCET exam has no negative Marking
  4. Language of the question paper is English & Kannada

  1. Subject wise Preparation:

Physics:  study all the syllabus of Class 12 in physics; try not to leave any topics. From class 11 syllabus focus on thermodynamics, waves & fluid. More weightage is given to class 12 syllabus.

Chemistry:  For chemistry try to clear all the concepts, make notes of formulas, laws and reactions.  Make basics clear first and try solving examples more to get more understanding of the topics.  Focus on Organic section, Inorganic & all the formulae of Physical chemistry.

Mathematics: try solving maximum questions in maths as it only require more practice and proper use of formulas. Focus more on Calculus & Algebra and then prepare Coordinate geometry and Trigonometry.

Biology: Biology includes Botany & Zoology. This section will be of 60 marks in exam. Candidates must clear all the theory part and try follow the class 11 & 12 syllabus.Study Material: Going through NCERT is must for KCET exam as 70% to 80% is from class 12. Also candidate can refer to – Arihant or MTG publication.  Subject wise books by Dinesh publication or CET by Cengage publication can also be referred.

KCET Sample Papers: candidate should solve all the previous year papers as KCET is all about the accuracy & speed. They should analyze their performance after every test and try not to repeat it next time. Questions in KCET are of repetitive kind candidate will get an idea of the type of questions come in exam.

Revision: try doing revision once a week and focus on weak areas during it.

Stop studying anything new around 2-3 months before exam and rather focus on revising all the important topics & concepts.
